How I Create Your Memory Bear
Pull up a chair and let’s talk about the magic behind a Loved & Cherished Memory Bear.
My journey began when my cousin asked me to transform her grandmother’s suit into a bear. The joy and comfort it brought her — and then her mum, when I made a second bear from the same fabric — was truly inspiring. Soon, more requests came from family and friends, and I realised just how deeply meaningful these keepsakes can be. I’ll be honest… I sometimes get a little attached to them myself.
Every bear has its own personality, its own story, and its own emotional weight. Creating them is a privilege I never take lightly.

Creating Your Memory Bear
Choosing the Clothing
This is often the hardest part. We all have those boxes of garments tucked away — full of memories, but painful or overwhelming to sort through.
I understand this deeply. I recently found the courage to make another bear for myself from my dad’s cardigan after he passed away. It was tough, but incredibly worthwhile.
Once you’ve chosen the garments, the transformation begins.
Planning the Design
This is where the Loved & Cherished magic happens.
I carefully lay out the clothing, imagining how each piece will contribute to the final bear. Sometimes I’ll ponder for hours, visualising the finished bear in my mind’s eye. Every decision is intentional — every piece of fabric has meaning.
Cutting, Backing & Sewing
Once the design is set:
- I cut out the pattern pieces
- I add interfacing to strengthen the fabric and prevent stretching
- I iron everything to create a supportive backing
- Then I begin sewing — sometimes by machine, sometimes by hand
Slowly, stitch by stitch, your Memory Bear begins to take shape.

Stuffing & Assembly
Next comes the stuffing — and I don’t hold back!
Each bear is generously filled with high‑quality, fire‑retardant toy stuffing. I make sure every nook and cranny is packed, giving your bear a lovely plump belly and bringing its features to life.
And there it is… A beautiful Loved & Cherished Memory Bear, ready to be held and loved.
A Loving Send‑Off
Your bear is carefully wrapped and sent back to its forever home, ready to bring comfort, joy, and connection for a lifetime.
“Because someone we love is in heaven, we have a little bit of heaven in our home.”
Thank you for taking the time to peek behind the scenes. If you have any questions, I’d love to hear from you.
Love, Mandy x
