Your Keepsake Questions Answered
If you can’t find the answer your looking for, please contact me
Where are you based?
I am based in Colchester Essex, but I have customers based all over the UK. If you are local to me you are welcome to drop off your clothes and collect your keepsake when its finished.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Currently, I only ship within the UK.
How much clothing should I send?
The amount of clothing needed depends on the keepsake you choose. Many customers like to use two or more items in each bear or animal, but you can send as many as you like. The more items you send, the more creative we can be!
- Small baby clothes (0-6 months): 8-10 items. If they are smaller in size its best to provide a couple more items to ensure I have enough to work with.
- Medium baby clothes (6-12 months): 6-8 items
- Large baby clothes (18-24 months): 4-6 items
- Children’s clothing: 2-3 items
- Adult clothing: 1-2 items ( or send 2-4 items for a more varied pattern)
If you only have one item, we can usually still make a bear, though we might need to add a matching fabric. We’ll discuss all your wishes and ideas when you order to make sure your keepsake is perfect.
What if I send too much or not enough?
It’s fine to send extra clothes! Please add a note telling us which items are most important to you and if you have any preferences for their use. (Lighter or plainer colours work best for the head so you can see the eyes & nose) We can’t guarantee all items will be used. Any unused whole pieces of clothing will be returned with your finished keepsake. If you don’t send enough items, I’ll contact you.
What types of items can (and can’t) be used?
I can use most fabrics, including blankets and pillowcases. All items will be lined for stability.
I Cannot Use: Stiff or plastic materials. Heavy leather, real fur, socks/underwear, thick chunky knits, or very sheer fabrics (chiffon/silk).
If I receive an item I’m not 100% sure I can use, I’ll always say no rather than risking ruining the items. I know how precious most items are so I’d never just give it a go. If you’re unsure about a particular fabric, please get in touch.
How should I send my clothing?
To ensure your precious items arrive safely, please follow these three steps:
-
Protect: Place your clothing inside a sealed plastic bag (to protect against moisture) before putting it into a sturdy box or heavy-duty mailing bag.
-
Track: I strongly recommend using Recorded Delivery or a courier service that requires a signature. This allows you to track your parcel’s journey.
-
Identify: Please include a note inside the package with your name, contact details, and any specific instructions regarding which items are your favorites
Can I order more than one keepsake?
Yes! Just add the items to your cart and checkout.
Specific designs: Please separate clothing into individual bags with a note for each keepsake.
Mixed designs: If you are happy for me to mix the fabrics across all items, you can send them in one bag with a single note.
Do you offer discounts?
Thank you for your interest! Each keepsake is crafted with significant time and effort, so I am unable to offer discounts at this time. I believe my prices reflect the value and craftsmanship of every piece.
What condition do the clothes need to be in?
Items should be clean. While I can work with worn fabric, please avoid items with severe stains or large holes. Note that very thin, well-worn fabric may affect the long-term durability of the keepsake.
Do I need to iron the clothes?
No need! I interface and iron every panel as part of the preparation process.
What is the turnaround time?
My current lead time is 4 -6 weeks from the date I receive your clothing. For milestone events, please book at least 4 weeks in advance. Larger orders may take longer.
What materials go into my keepsakes?
I believe that what’s on the inside of your bear/animal is just as important as the cherished clothes on the outside. To ensure your keepsake lasts a lifetime, I use only high-quality materials:
-
The Features: I typically use beautiful safety glass eyes. For the nose, I can use a safety nose, a hand-stitched fabric nose, or soft felt, depending on the character of the bear and your preference.
-
The Stuffing: Every animal/bear is filled with high-grade 100% Polyester hollow fiber and ensures they keep their shape over the years.
-
The Structure: To give your sentimental fabrics the support they need, I line them with 100% Cotton woven brushed interfacing.
Can my keepsakes be personalized?
Yes! I offer machine embroidery. Please contact me to discuss your ideas before ordering.
Can you make clothes for the bears to wear?
Yes, These can be selected as add-ons directly on the product page. Please select the clothing add-on or contact us to discuss your vision. (Adding accessories? You can spread the total cost of your bear and all its outfits over 3 interest-free payments with PayPal)
Can I have leftover clothing returned?
Yes, If you want the left over fabric from your keepsakes returned, the postage will go by weight so might cost a little more. Just let me know in your order notes!
Can I return my keepsake?
Due to the custom nature of these items, I cannot offer returns or refunds. If you have specific design ideas, please let me know before I start! Otherwise, I will use my professional creative judgment. For information on what to do if there is an issue with your order, please see my full Returns & Refunds Policy
